Sterle

Pierre Sterle (1905-1997) was a French jeweller renowned for his distinctive and avant-garde approach to fine jewellery. Trained as a goldsmith, he first worked for prestigious houses such as Van Cleef & Arpels, Chaumet and Boucheron before establishing his own atelier in Paris in the 1950s. Sterle became famous for his unique ability to blend traditional craftsmanship with innovative, modern design concepts.

Sterle�s jewellery was marked by bold, sculptural forms, often drawing inspiration from nature, art and the geometry of the modernist movement. His designs often incorporated flowing, organic shapes, creating pieces that were both visually striking and wearable.

Notable for his use of the 'invisible' setting and mixed materials, Sterle's works were often seen as miniatures of art sculpture, with an emphasis on fluid lines and asymmetric designs.
