George III 18ct gold shell box with portrait miniature, by Peter Desvignes, London 1807, in the form of a scallop shell, the base and cover alternating polished lines with matted fluted lines, the cover topped by an oval bust length portrait of a man looking toward the left, wearing a red cloth hat and blue coat, grey hair worn shoulder-length, hinged and opening to reveal a polished interior, the inside of the lid applied with a bold heart pierced by an arrow and bearing the motto 'Dmbsb't 1807', London hallmarks, PD maker's mark
