18th century emerald, ruby and diamond flower brooch, c.1760, designed as a trumpet shaped flower in bloom on a single stem with various smaller buds and flowerheads,
the principal flower modelled in high relief, with double row of petals in ruby and diamond and with emeralds to the body, a bud with diamond petals and emerald stamen sits below right, small ruby and diamond flowerheads on the left and two little ruby buds, the scrolling leaves in emeralds and diamonds, all close collet set silver and gold, the diamonds of table and rose cut, the emeralds of rectangular, square and calibre cut the rubies calibre cut, close cut down and dentil set in silver and gold testing as 18ct, later brooch fitting with French control mark for gold, also testing as 18ct Length 6.5cm / 2 9/16''
