Late 18th and early 19th century foiled amethyst suite, c.1800, comprising a necklace with cross pendant, a pair of bracelets, a pair of pendant earrings and a coronet shaped brooch,
the necklace with twenty six graduated oval facetted amethysts; the detachable cross pendant of openwork lozenge outline, formed of an oval amethyst at each arm and inverted smaller pear shaped amethyst in between, beaded terminals, amethyst accents stones to the suspension loop; the bracelets, one longer, one shorter, with uniform oval facetted stones; the earrings with formed of oval amethyst tops suspending pear shaped drops and with two smaller stones accenting, the top oriented landscape and the openwork coronet brooch of classic crown outline formed of two rows of oval cut stones graduated larger to centre, a later added screw fitting possibly to take a hair comb fitting, all close cut down collet set in gold, testing as 9ct, the necklace and bracelets early 19th century with deeper close back settings, the cross, earrings and brooch late 18th century, with more rounded backs, all together with a contemporary caseNecklace length 42cm / 16½'', of which the amethysts largest to smallest spread approximately 18 x 12mm to 10 x 8mm
