  • featuring an oval intaglio of banded light and mid-brown agate, carved with a figural scene from the classics thought to depict the somewhat brutal aftermath of a musical competition between Apollo with his Lyre and challenger Marsyas seen bound to a tree, the intaglio sits within a ribbed collet frame and bordered by eight round cabochon rubies spaced by creamy-white enamelled petals, suspending a detachable grey coloured barqoue drop pearl with gold foliate cap and knop surmount with ropetwist detail, mounted in gold testing as 18ct, Castellani monogram to verso, pendant loop, the safety roller catch a later replacement, the pendant loop for the pearl showing restoration solder
